Parents
College life is a time for developing new skills, acquiring new knowledge, making decisions, and dealing with the stress caused by transitions. Parents and the McDaniel College Center for Experience and Opportunity staff share a common goal – to help your student prepare for and make informed decisions about their career journey. We accomplish this by providing quality programs, services and resources designed to educate students about career development and how to navigate through the career planning and decision-making process.

To assist you in supporting your son or daughter during their college career, we have compiled a list of resources that contain helpful information for parents. We welcome you to visit the various sections of this website and encourage your student to use all the resources available. We believe the information will be helpful as you coach your student to career success.

Career Counseling
The CEO provides individual  appointments to aid your student in choosing a major, finding an internship, preparing resumes and cover letters, practicing for an interview, job searching, graduate school planning, and networking.

Resource Library
In addition to our individual counseling appointments, we also encourage self-directed career exploration. Our Career Resource Library has on-line as well as paper-back books, magazines, directories and DVDs to support your student in the career planing process.

Internships
Internships are a wonderful way to gain experience while in college. Employers look favorably on students who have completed at least one internship during their college career. Most employers use their pool of interns to select full-time employees. We have four internship databases that list opportunities all over the United States and beyond.

Job Search Resources
Career Services provides employers with an easy way to connect with our students and alumni who are seeking part-time or full-time employment. Our Green Terror Job Connection on-line database is available 24/7 to employers to post positions and for job seekers to search for opportunities. We also provide links to local, national and federal job websites.

Job Fairs and Special Events
In addition to the online job search resources, we also bring employers to campus for job fairs, on-campus interviews, information sessions and information tables.

McDaniel College also belongs to two local Career Consortiums that offer several job fairs throughout the year in which your student can attend.

McDaniel's Alumni Career Network
This database has more than 100 McDaniel graduates from a variety of career fields who give back to McDaniel students by sharing information about their work and offering career guidance and advice. We invite you to join also.
