discover your purpose - create your destiny
The Partnership!
As a faculty member and advisor, you play an important role in our students' career development. Students seek your advice and guidance on a number of issues ranging from choosing a major to locating internships and jobs.
Likewise, we also seek to assist our students with their career planning and job search needs. The mutual goal of you, our faculty and staff and Career Services is student success.
By working together, we can ensure the transition from McDaniel student to a member of the workforce is as seamless as possible.
As we seek ways to strengthen our connection with faculty we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you to offer programs and services that are beneficial to our students.
Below is an overview of the many resources we have to offer you.
Don't Cancel that Class! Program
While planning your syllabi and working around your conference schedules, you don't need to cancel a class. We are ready and willing to visit your classroom to facilitate a standard or customized workshop to match individual class needs and assignments, for the days you need to be away from The Hill.

Academic Liaisons
Each academic department has a Career Services Liaison interested in working closely with faculty. With advance notice, we can develop a program to introduce your students to careers in your discipline. To speak to your liaison, email us or call 410.871.3305.
Choosing a Major
Studies show that people are more successful and satisfied in jobs and career fields consistent with their skills, values, interests, and personality traits. Gathering information about these qualities is called self-assessment. We have many resources that can help students select a major that matches their self assessment. Click here to learn more.
Internships
Career Services subscribes to four online internship databases that lists local, regional, national and international internship opportunities in a variety of fields. In addition to your network of internship sites, please encourage students to check out these databases, as well as our Internship web pages.
Where are the Jobs?
This is our specialty! If you find students who are concerned about any aspect of their job search, please refer them to us. We can help them locate jobs, create resumes and cover letters, prepare for interviews, register for upcoming job fairs, and connect with employers coming to campus. You can also refer them to our Job Search web pages.
Graduate School
Career Services has resources that can help students identify programs that match their interests, prepare for entrance exams, and create admissions essays and personal statements. Every September, we offer practice exams, sponsor special workshops on the graduate school admission process, and bring a variety of schools to campus via our Graduate School Fair and information tables.
Career Guides

Career Tutorials
During the semester, we offer a number of workshops. However, some students' schedules prohibit them from attending. Most recently, we have created online tutorials that provide an overview of the materials covered in our workshops.
Alumni Career Network (ACN)
Research indicates that most people identify new employment opportunities by networking rather than traditional job search methods. The Alumni Career Network, available exclusively through the McDaniel College Career Services Office, is an excellent networking and career information tool.
Over 100 graduates have volunteered to talk to students and share advice and information about their career fields, the job search process, internship and volunteer options, and suggestions for things to do while in college to become more marketable and knowledgeable about the world of work.
We invite you to take a look and join our network!
Workshop on Wheels
Need another hall program idea? Need to host a program for your student organization? Creative juices stopped flowing? Take advantage of our Workshop on Wheels program. Upon request, Career Services professionals will come to you and facilitate a workshop of your choice.
Click here to view a list of our available workshops. Use our Workshop Request form to schedule a workshop tailored to you, your residents or your club members.
